Fueling Businesses to Fuel Equity - Cafe 322 Urban Bistro

Throughout Black History Month and Women's History Month, Southern Company Gas selected businesses that our employees feel are making a difference. As part of our Fueling Equity initiative, we partnered with our subsidiaries and field leaders to surprise each business with a grant to help fuel their dreams and thank them for their inspiring work.

Cafe 322 Urban Bistro currently operates out of their home kitchen, where they craft all of their wonderful meals. From weddings to corporate events, they don't shy away from any challenge. Their passion lies in creating unique flavors and dishes that are designed specifically for their clients' needs.

Their space may be small, but it has not stopped this power couple from providing excellent service while serving their community. Every year they host “Home for the Holidays,” an event where they gather donations and cook full holiday meals to help those in need.

As their business grows, the husband and wife duo are aiming to build a legacy for their four children. They have big plans! They'll be expanding to a brick and mortar location and transforming it into a vibrant event space for the community. To help realize their dreams of expanding their business, we surprised Chefs Ora and Matrell with a $10,000 grant. As Chef Ora said, Southern Company Gas and Nicor Gas are serving up “love on a plate” and showing our appreciation for the community, while helping fuel growth for our small business owners.
