Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer
David E. Slovensky is senior vice president, general counsel and chief ethics and compliance officer for Southern Company Gas. In this role, he provides leadership for the company’s legal affairs, corporate secretary functions as well as compliance, ethics and claims matters. He also is responsible for the physical security of the company’s facilities and assets, security and compliance investigations, as well as training activities with applicable fire, police and security-related government agencies. Slovensky is a member of the Southern Company Gas Management Council.
Before assuming his current role, Slovensky served as vice president and associate general counsel. In addition, he had responsibility for leading the corporate security initiatives, which he maintains today, as well as overseeing the design of policies, procedures and controls to protect the company’s information assets and effective records management. Slovensky joined Southern Company Gas in 2004 as chief litigation counsel after nine years in private practice.
Slovensky is a member of the American Gas Association’s Legal Committee, the Chief Litigation Officer Forum and Chief Litigation Counsel Association.
Slovensky earned a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree from the University of South Carolina. He also earned his juris doctorate degree from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was a member of the Michigan Journal of International Law.
Slovensky and his wife live in Atlanta with their three children.
